Many students do not struggle with math because they are not capable.
They struggle because they have lost confidence.
At Positive Math Learning, I focus on rebuilding that confidence step by step. When students feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and slow down when needed, real learning happens.
I have a mathematics minor and classroom teaching experience. I provide personalized 1:1 tutoring designed to:
• Strengthen foundational number sense
• Build fluency through practice, repetition, and review
• Use explicit, step-by-step instruction
• Incorporate multisensory learning activities
• Scaffold new concepts clearly and intentionally
• Reduce anxiety and build lasting confidence
I believe students need both conceptual understanding and fluency. Understanding helps students make sense of mathematics, while practice and repetition help skills become automatic and reliable.
Every session is thoughtfully structured and tailored to the individual learner.
I believe that:
Struggling in math does not mean a student is “bad at math.”
Confidence is just as important as skill.
Strong foundations prevent long-term frustration.
Small, consistent progress leads to meaningful growth.
I work especially well with students who:
Feel behind in math
Need additional support with foundational skills
Benefit from a patient, structured approach
Have started to believe they “just aren’t good at math”
My goal is to help each student shift from
“I can’t do this”
to
“I understand this.”
If you're looking for thoughtful, personalized math support that focuses on both confidence and strong mathematical understanding, I'd love to connect.
